RB2 was more cinematic but that came at the expense of combat flow. But anyway Im talking straight quantity of combat options.Raging Blast had 2 buttons, X and Y, that you tied together for a combo with X as your base. For 1 or 2 combos (XXXXY) you could stun an enemy and then start another.
You could also throw a super into that but not smoothly. All supers were a ki attack or melee cutscene. In Xenoverse melee was also 2 buttons, but also had combos starting with Y and more unique combinations (YXYXY). Additionally, there are more combinations that end in setting an enemy up for follow up. Also blast supers can be smoothly fit in there, and there is also a ton of strike supers that can end with an opponent vulnerable to a follow up.Xenoverse's melee combat (in combo with strike supers) just has more options for stuff, and that larger range is more rewarding. The problem with Xenoverse's combat is they don't teach you, I bet tons of people don't even know you can click A after sending an enemy flying to teleport to them and continue your combos. The combat is much more dynamic than most people know.
Couple things about it:.Were you a fan of the Sparking!/Tenkaichi games on PS2/Wii? It's the same developer with the same style of game. What are you looking for in terms of single-player? The first Raging Blast had a traditional story mode along with 'What If?' Battles, while the second forgoes story entirely for a mission-based single-player experience.Graphical preferences?
The first Raging Blast was a little more cartoony (albeit with a completely broken camera), while the second game starts heading into the 'shiny' territory.Looks like you're into local multiplayer, so just remember that it's split-screen for these types of games.I definitely preferred the second game to the first (more characters, no need to play Raditz-Buu for the gazillionth time in my life, fixed gameplay mechanics, etc.). But that being said, Spike's games never hold my interest for any longer than it takes to unlock everything. With its mechanics, level design, available characters and overall play i would place it as best or second best DBZ game ever. The combos are smooth and the super attacks are easily accessible and can be chained with strikes superbly. The block function is great and the movement is easy to the point to where you actually have to be smart with launching attacks because your opponent can and will dodge them. These are the major problems i find with xenoverse, the movement is good but there is a very present amount of lag after powering up, attacking and getting attacked.
If you don't have the stamina to dodge or use the evasive skill have fun getting your face pounded. RB2 doesn't have any of these problems, the combat is smoother because of it and i never found myself yelling at the game to 'fucking move!' .RB2: 9/10.
