Alternatively select the Control Panel link (same two key press) and then select the Device Manager icon.Dell does not support your laptop for Win 10, so there are no drivers for it. However here is a link that has Win 10 drivers for your laptop, (their drivers have worked for people I know - not your model but still worked). Scroll down to find the Audio drivers, install them and see if that solves it for you, in case it was a hardware/software incompatibility problem. If it doesn't you can always revert back to what you had. Have you tried plunging in your earphones into another device like an iPod, mp3 player, or stereo system to see if they work? If they don't work then the problem is with your earphones and not your computer. Also I would try to connect a different set of earphones or speakers to the earphone jack on the computer to test the jack out to see if it works.

Hi, I've noticed this bug on my dell g5, i5 + 1060 max q. 2-in-1 (also a 2018 release Dell laptop), any earphones connected to the headphone jack would not be detected until I rebooted. This solution used to work for me. Hello, I'm new to these forums and was hoping someone could lend me some advice on what to do: I've got a Dell Inspiron 9300 Laptop and the headphone jack is rather shoddily put in there and caved. May 23, 2018 - Restart the laptop. Well there is same thread regarding this problem. Try plugging in your headphone and then rebooting the laptop. My laptop is not recognizing any input device that i connect into the Aux port.

If there is no sound then the problem would most likely be with your computers earphone jack.To get to Device Manager in Windows 10 to check the sound drivers, right click the Start button and click on Device Manager. Double click on sound, video and game controllers, right click on each device and click properties and make sure all the drivers are working properly.

The problem is usually driver related.I had that trouble once with a dell inspiron n5110 laptop I was fixing.I suggest you update your drivers to the latest (see dell support website, and even similar laptops audio drivers).Afterwards, try to see if there is an option (in Realtek HD audio settings) that makes the internal and the external speakers (sometimes called front jack) be seen as the 'same device'.If this option is unpicked, it may leads to make the drivers simply add another output device instead of replacing the default internal one.You can try this one released on 03/20/17.
