This seems to be the best topic 'Location', although my system is running Windows 7. My device is a Photosmart C4385 All-In-One.Problem is I tried to do a printer unistall and reinstall.
Hp Photosmart Printer C4385 All-in-one
Uninstall seemed to go OK. Install appears to have reached the configure step during which I get 'fatal error during installation' message. Following prompts, whether I attampt to cancel or let it do an analysis and troubleshooting search, I am ultimately instructed to restart where upon the installation appears to retry or restart and the same error shortly follows. I have made this circle at least 6-8 times and cannot figure a way out.The device now shows up in the Control Panel, Devices and Printers window, but functionality is very limited. Please help me exit this loop.
Hello,I see that you're having an issue with installing the software.Go ahead and uninstall the software again. Once you uninstall the software, try installing the software again.
You will get to a screen like this:You want to select the 'Selected software' option.Disregard the printer name on this picture. After selecting that option, you will see a screen like this:Go ahead and install each option one by one starting with the driver being the first option on the list. You will need to uncheck every other option; some will not let you uncheck it which is fine.Once the first install is done, re open the software and continue doing the same process.Let me know the outcome. Well, good news is I sorta found my own way to the uninstall, but using the install download from HP. I ran it even though the ominous loop was waiting for me in the background, and in the end when the uninstall finished it was gone and didn't come back when I rebooted. Fnv infinite loading screen. So then I did the install, not going through the item by item install you suggest - just all in one go. Bad news is last night it looked like I had succussfully set it up to connect wirelessly, but today it only works with the USB.Seems to me that at one time I was able to change the wired connection to wireless without a reinstall, but I can't recall how.
So I guess I will go through the uninstall/reinstall cycle again tonight. It occurred to me that maybe I should have just waited awhile before plugging it in and maybe they would have found each other. Not happenning now.I think the lesson to learn here is don't rely on Windows Device Manager or the uninstall done through Programs and Features.
