Hey gang,So today I was playing New Vegas and I was finishing up some quests in the Old Mormon Fort, but whenever I try to leave this area and head back into Freeside the loading screen will simply not end. I cannot alt tab or bring up task managed either, I'm forced to hard restart my computer.
I only have 2 saves for New Vegas and both of them are in the Fort, I've tried both and they yield the same result. I have also entered and exited this area before in the past with no problems at all so I'm not sure why this is suddenly happening now.
I do have mods installed but no new ones have been installed since I last entered the Fort with success. I've assumed that you didn't use BOSS because, for example, nv-readius is very far down in your load order.
Looking at my modlist, it's the fourth.esp after all the esm's. Are you using FOMM or Wrye Flash to manage your mods? After I select all my mods and hit ok the program runs for a while then it pops up with this message:An error occured while loading modules. Editing is disabled.
Yeah, this sounds familiar. The problem is, one of your mods need another mod to work properly. In this case it's the active wasteland mod which needs the dead money DLC as a master esm file. The weird thing is, you seem to have the correct esp files already installed but fnvedit still tries to load the dead money compatibility files (Active Wasteland - Dead Money Coffee Maker.esp). Reinstall this mod using vanilla only esp's and run the program again.this may also be the cause of your crashes.edit: I should have mentioned that, but check only plugins you want to use ingame.
If you copied the whole active wasteland archive into your data folder but left the compatibility dead money esp unchecked (which is good), then do the same when loading your mods in fnvedit. Check only mods you want to use.Edited by mooncarver, 05 October 2011 - 08:10 AM. I ran FNVEdit using only the mods I have enabled ticked, I then was able to create the merged patch. I ran the game in windowed mode with mergedpatch.esp enabled at the bottom of my mod list, no such luck and it crashed. I then tried again with it at the very top of the esp files but below the esms.
And I'm happy to report it worked. Windows 7 did report the game had stopped responding for a few seconds but I was able to leave the Mormon Fort and quick save, then I came here.I'm still confused as to why this would suddenly happen out of the blue when I have been in out of this area in the past with no trouble. As for playing New Vegas I plan to continue with the mods I have installed and with Mergedpatch.esp running but I'd like your input into what you think I should do in regards to mods.I'm not sure if this is coincedence but I just took the game out of windowed mode and launched it and got stuck with the infinite loading screen,Put it back in windowed, got the loading screen againEdited by ForeverLost, 05 October 2011 - 05:11 PM. Merged patch has to be at the very bottom of your modlist or problems may occur. But if it worked for you, then it's fine I guess.I'm still confused as to why this would suddenly happen out of the blue when I have been in out of this area in the past with no trouble. I see many small accessoir and suits mods, so perhaps they're somehow interfering with each other and/or other mods.
Fallout New Vegas Infinite Loading Screen Freeside
You're not the first one to experience sudden crashes, unfortunately this is how the gamebryo engine shows you the finger sometimes. Happened to me in fallout 3, until I learned how to use the bashed patch and decided to stick with mostly popular and stable mods. Only then I started adding smaller stuff, like holster, backpacks, single weapon mods, even toyed around with the geck a bit. At the end the game was heavily modded, but quite stable.I suggest deactivating everything and do the trial and error thing. Activate them one by one: bigger mods, like electro city, fellout, more perks and traits, interior lightining overhaul should be enabled first (one by one), verify that the game works after each mod you've activated and then proceed with smaller ones. Again verify after each mod, that the game is running without ctd's (and always make a new merged patch so that new mods can be included).I'm not sure if this is coincedence but I just took the game out of windowed mode and launched it and got stuck with the infinite loading screen,Put it back in windowed, got the loading screen againwhat do you mean? Infinite loading screen still persists after reenabling the windowed mode or does it load properly in windowed mode only?

If latter is true, try this thing:though it may only be a placebo, since it won't solve existing incompatibilities.
