Snow, rain, and ice. Its all about layers and durability. Spend a lot of time on Mt Hood and surrounding areas including the gorge. This shell is terrific. It accommodates layers well.

Its tolerant performs well from hiking to climbing and skiing with and without a pack. It crinkles a fair amount but as it is worn and broken in it is just fine. Zippers are good. Hood is great for a helmet. Overall, very pleased and satisfied. Primary use is for hiking regardless of time-of-year, weather conditions, and road conditions. I normally pack a shell that can handle the worst of our rain and sleet.This shell fits perfectly to my size; I'm in the 42-44 chest range, and the jacket feels comfortable without being snug or tight. The hood, while able to accommodate a helmet, don't flop around my head like some of the oversized hoods do. I feel I could layer a light fleece if needed, but for now I've found that I've been plenty warm (and completely dry) in our relatively mild winter.
Rated 5 out of5 byJordyFromOR fromGreat for backcountry touring I was excited that MH and Gore-Tex teamed up again after so long for an alpine shell and ordered this sight unseen from a recent trip to the employee store (read: huge discount.) I’ve taken the shell out on a few sunny splitboard missions and worn it at the dog park in hammering rain around Oregon and here’s what I’ve come up with:Pros: it’s Gore-Tex Pro so I probably don’t have to go into too much detail about the fact that it has kept me bone dry in torrential downpours and sideways windy rain. The Hood sinches down really nicely without a helmet and fits snugly over my climbing and snowboard helmets.
The material seems totally bomb proof and seems to breath fairly well although I’ve not had to test it while slogging up the skin track. Two large side vents give great access to mid layer pockets and dump heat when needed. Two chest pockets are great for a large iPhone, snacks, etc and all zippers seem to move snag free (not something I’ve found on a previous lightweight MH rain she’ll.) this jacket is lightweight and packs down small. There is one smaller (slightly larger than a phone) mesh pocket on the inside and a small pass through from one of the exterior chest pockets (presumably for headphone cords.)Cons: the alpine fit is an extremely ‘close to body’ fit which is awesome when it’s just this shell and a base layer or light mid layer (monkeyman freeze or arcteryx fortrez) but it feels a little snug when I need to throw my MH ghost whisperer under. Crack sketchup pro 2017. The sleeves are also seem pretty long which gets in the way of my gps watch when out on adventures. For reference, I’m just over 5’ 10”, weigh about 180 and comfortably wear a medium in everything that I own from MH.

A clean design, highlighted by colorblocking, is complemented by thoughtful features, including multiple stash pockets, powder skirt and an adjustable hood. We loved the sharp logoing on the chest and sleeve, both of which serve as friendly reminders that the Exposure is built to last.Room for Improvement: Although the two exterior fleece-lined pockets are large and cozy, they left us wanting more. The addition of a pass pocket on the sleeve would help to organize smaller items.Website:Fit: The overall fit of the Exposure Parka was spot on, however, we’d like to see a higher collar for more face protection. Worn on a day with wind chill in the negative degrees, he was noticeably chilly, even with a base and mid layer, but added that it otherwise provided a fuss-free barrier once the wind died down.
