- Dec 28, 2015 My laptop screen keeps blinking, turning off and on, all of the functions of the laptop keep running but its just my screen that's bugging me, I feel like I'll get an epilepsy attack, its basically 1 second on, flash black, 1 second on, flash black etc etc. Can anyone help me please?
- Jan 17, 2018 Prevent Windows 10 screen display from turning off All the replies refer to Windows 8 or earlier. Windows 10 (laptop is plugged in) and sleep mode for display is set for 2 hours yet screen turns off after 1 minute of non use.
The screen shuts off randomly, if i move the mouse or type it will return before going blank a second later, and sometimes this will repeat several times before the screen will stay on for more than a few seconds (I would liken it to nodding off to sleep, it needs to be prodded a few times before it will keep its eyes open so to speak).

Displays can be turned off via the gpu but they can also be turned off by the electronics on in the display itself. On external monitors you would access the hardware setup menus in the display and disable the timeouts.For a laptop, the setting would have to be in the BIOS. You might take a look.does the display turn back on when you hit a key on the keyboard? On some older machines, there was a BIOS setting to repost video during s3 resume.that effect this function. If it was turned off the machine would wake but the montior would never turn back on when you started typing at the keyboard.
